DEATH TOLL SET TO RISE AS FULANI/HAUSA TRADERS CLASH WITH ABA RESIDENTS
Mayhem was unleashed in Ogbo Hill located in Aba, Abia State this morning when Hausa/Fulani cattle dealers clashed with some Igbo youths leading to the death of three persons.
What led to the incident is still sketchy as the police spokes person, Onyeka Ezekiel only comfirmed that there was just pockets of violence and demonstration but declined giving further details.
However a passer by who pleaded anonymity told our team that the crisis started when an Hausa man stabbed and killed an Igbo trader for reprimanding him for urinating close to his shop. This led to the lynching of the killer and some other Hausas who intervened.
It took the effort of the Nigerian Army from a nearby barracks close to the scene to calm down the situation. As at the time of writing this report, security personnels are still patrolling the area and there are indication that the death toll will rise due to the number of injured persons.
Recall that there have been tension between Hausa/Fulani and Igbos due to the recent killings in Enugu State by suspected Fulani Herdsmen and constant invasion of their farm lands by their cattle.
More details later...
