The Nigerian legal system in 2016 experienced a very big shock caused by the action of a young and vibrant judge Hon Justice Danladi Umar. Justice Umar rose to controversial fame when he issued a bench warrant for the arrest and arraignment of the Nigerian Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki and six other ex-governors for false declaration of assets.This was the first time such arrest has been issued against top political figures in Nigeria.The action of this fearless judge made us to investigate some salient facts about him.

Hon Justice Danladi Umar hails from the North Eastern part of  Nigeria in a state called Bauchi.He stamped his footprint visibly in the legal sector of Nigeria.In Bauchi State he served as a Magistrate and also practiced as a lawyer.At a very young age of 36 he was appointed the Acting Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal after the demise of the  Chairman Justice Mutala Adebayo Sanni and at the age of 40 years the was made the chairman of the tribunal making him the youngest ever judge to hold such position.

Justice Umar was born in 1971 in Toro Local Government Area Bauchi State, he had his University Education in University of Maidugri also in North Eastern part of the country. After being called to Bar in 1992 he enrolled into private practice, he served in some reputable law firms and chambers where he stood outstanding.He later worked under the Ministry Of Justice as a Senior Legal Officer and  Assistant  Legal Adviser under FCT Culture and Tourism Department.He is happily married with children.

He first served as an acting chairman at the age of 36 year, four years later he was sworn in by the then Chief Justice Of The Federation Justice Aloysuis Kastina -Alu as the chairman of the Tribunal after the death of Hon Justice Adebayo Mutala Sanni.He was 40 years when he started acting in full capacity as the chairman of the Tribunal making him the youngest ever Chairman.

It was in his cause of his duty that the trial of the Senate President came to his court over alleged false declaration of assets, he stood tall and proud by showing credibility, courage and fairness in the face of huge intimidation by the Nigerian Senate and Saraki's loyalist.
